I'd like to be friends with this boy (let's name him Joe), but how do I become friends with Joe without people thinking that I have a crush on him?
But, I like one of Joe's friends (let's name him Bob). If Bob DID like me back, would Bob be upset that I'm friends with Joe?

Instead of talking to the so called Joe as a boyfriend talk to him as a buddy, and make people think that. If bob liked you back then there might be a chance he will be upset that your friends with Joe, because he might think you might fall for Joe.

I'm not sure if this is correct but from my experience, you should hang out with Joe and Bob at the same time with some of their friends too...You can also ask some of you friends to go too so it won't be obvious...

just go up and talk to "Joe" and if "Bob" does like you and he's best friends with "Joe" then he'll inderstand you 2 are just friends. Then if you like "Joe" later on see which one had the courage to ask uyou out first

You are thinking far too hard about this.
For all you know, you might not like either of these guys. Just go meet them and become friends with both of them. Then decide if you want to date one of them. That will be better than going in with ulterior motives.
