Assuming you mean market in the business sense that is an arena for selling or trading goods and services through various sales channels then, NO.

It is a business sales opportunity that is typically available to multiple business to obtain and gain or lose market share.

Now, if you mean market as in bazaar, flee market, open air market, etc...then YES.

In addition to being a business opportunity it can develop into a social institution over an extended period of time. It not only allows the development of commerce but also the occasion for people to interact and share experiences. While in Baghdad I gained a real understanding of the open air markets there as both opportunities of commerce and social interaction.
