I get candles (any kind... just either package them cute) and put a tag on them that says "Here is a candle for you to light once the stork has made his flight with the flicker of the flame please say a prayer in (put the baby's name in) name"

another thing is I just had my baby shower last weekend and my best friend did a "1st box" it has what it is... a big hat box that has small boxes in it for the 1st lock of hair, 1st tooth, a birthday plate for the baby's 1st birthday cake, baby's 1st bib (it has the baby's name on it) and the baby's 1st blanket... now you can add what ever you want to... but that is what is in mine.

My friend also had the guest write down a message to the baby and added it to the "1st box"

some of the games that we've played at baby showers are dont really have names but they go like this. When everyone arrives they get a safety pin, clip it to there clothing and the rule of the game is to not say keywords pertaining to the baby such as "baby, he or she" and if you catch someone saying that word, you get to take there safety pin, the person with the most pins by the end of the shower gets a prize....another game: pic 3 people, fill 3 baby bottles with apple juice, champaign, or beer, whichever you'd like, and have a contest, whom ever drinks, and finishes first wins, and gets a prize.

Water. Seriously, you always get a ton of clothes for babies and they outgrow them before they can wear them all. Disposable wipes and diapers, wind up mobiles to hang over their crib, activity toys, baby formula, helpful books for new parents, etc. Maybe not fun but useful, a tired mother will appreciate anything that makes life a little easier.

buy thank you cards and let the guests write their address on them and then the mom doesn't have to worry about finding everyones address's!

get some bottles and fill them with water and give them to the guests and tell them the first one to drink all the water the fastest wins a prize. The trick is to take the lid off and drink it and not to drink out of the nipple!
