Everyday i see it everywhere you see negative things all around us. Why aren't people happy enough with what they've got in there life. People might have a house maybe a ok running house they complain about that. When theres some homeless guy wishing he just could have that. People want more more more. They don't stop and think about anything but them selfs. They think more i have the more happier i can be. when in reality the more you have the more unhappy you get. Look at what you got if you got a roof over your head food and water. If you got that you should be happy because not everyone gets that privlage.

Azfab4fan and jhmsi you two have very good points. All and yes there is always gonna be competion. Jhmsi. Azfab4fan. Yes the government should focus on the homeless. yes two good points. I wanna bring up a point. People blame the government on the economy in the united states complain about alot of the government. But what do they do. They sit there and do nothing about most of the time. To make this Country a better country is to start with the people. What we've got to do is start making this country stronger hold charitys for illness homeless shelters anything that helps more people. More peoplehave start getting envolved in stuff like that. If you go to restruant see some kind donation box of sort for a foundation if you some change put it in any amount of donations small or big is helping. don't be selfesh. the more the people start taking care of eachother the better United states will be.No matter sexaulity race relgion. We are all the same in the end.

We are a very spoiled nation of people. We have a lot to be thankful for and should take time to remember that.

I think there are a lot of grateful people also. I am. I could have been born when the world was in turmoil in the late 30s and early 40s, and born into another country. I am so glad to be an American. I do know that I take a lot for granted here and I will promise to think more seriously about that.

Thanks for the question.

It's easy to see people who have more or better things and wish we had the same. Whenever I travel out of the country, I am ever more grateful to have been born here with all the comforts I used to take for granted. I not only have a lovely roof over my head, but central air!, hot and cold running water!, food in my fridge that sometimes goes to waste because I chose to eat out. I could go on, but I am embarrassed to be so spoiled.

It's called advertising. Everywhere we look, we are encouraged to covet more than what we have. You're right, just living in this country is an incredible privilege. Unfortunately, part of this nation runs on supply and demand, capitalism, the economy depends on buying and selling. Movies, TV, magazines, billboards, all have on them beautiful people with new homes, new cars, new clothes, vacations....it's very hard not to get suckered with it all.

First off, there's this button up there that says "Check Spelling." It's really simple to use. Secondly, I do feel empathy for the homeless people, but it's not as if they don't get fed at the soup kitchen and whatnot. They have it tough, but that makes me also think, "Why didn't this guy work a LITTLE harder when he could? Why? Even if you grew up in the worst neighborhood around, if you don't relent, you'd at least have a job that pays minimum wage now." Social Darwinism..... do I believe in it? To a degree, yes.

Now, as far as striving for better things, your thought may be true. We're seldom content with what we've got, but you've got to realize that we're in a country that's constantly improving. Who doesn't want a greater life for themselves? To be on top, you've got to be innovative, fresh, and have MONEY. If everyone were just content with what they've got now, America would drop off the face of the Earth. It's built on competition! What makes us want to compete? Money! When we acquire said money, what do we do with THAT? Buy things to better our living conditions. Duh. I'm not saying we should be obsessed with it because people who let it dominate their lives really are quite sad.

I know what you're driving at; we should all be grateful for what we have... blah blah blah. And I agree, but you also make it sound as if you wished we were all stagnant, which would pretty much kill our economy.

It's too easy to forget what is really important and that these abundant blessings from God (like freedom, free access to drinking water, education, etc) are not our "right" or guaranteed to be there tomorrow. We should all be thankful for what we're given. There are many things in the American mindset that need to be altered - maybe your question is part of that process.

Because people in this country are so selfish. If they had to live in a 3rd world country for 5 days, they would see the US as heaven. People dont know how good they have it.

We live in a society of entitlement. Many people feel like they are entitled to everything and shouldn't have to want or ask or be grateful for anything. :( When kids are given everything they want and more from the day they are born and never have to work for anything they become ungrateful brats. That doesn't stop when they become adults.

There are many people in the USA that know they are blessed but most of us are not in the entertainment business and lead quiet lives. Next time (next spring) we have tornadoes break out in Texas and destroy everything in their path watch the people who are interviewed. 90% of them will say, they are alive by God's grace and everything can be replaced except loved ones. You will definitely see it in the Midwest every Spring

I agree with you very good point.....I think it stems from the lack of discipline as the younger generations are being raised by there parents, The Govt. for taking away the rights of parents to discipline there kids.
