Going without at least a cup would be ill advised. Most wear performance undergear to keep their muscles warm.

though not wearing a cup may be dumb, alot, perhaps even most players do not wear one (or so I heard durring a brodcast earlier this season)

They wear stuff as skin tight as they can get it, even the undergear. Most pros don't wear cups, either......
