It may be low blood sugar - if you have not had any sort of injury. Exercise your hand and thumb rapidly. Clench and unclench your fist - wiggle your thumb in all directions. Do this for about 2 minutes. If it helps, check out www.hufa.org about low blood sugar.
If it does not, then go put some (1/4 teaspoon) of sugar (table sugar) under your tongue and let it dissolve. Then repeat the exercise routine in about 5-10 minutes. If that works, then check out www.hufa.org.
If none of the above work, schedule an appointment with your doctor to get any and all neurological and neuromuscular diseases/deficiencies checked out. Do you take vitamin B complex and or potassium separately or in the foods you eat? This may be part of it, too.

wierd that your counting but it must mean your stressed...normally that happens in the eye..but it can happy anywhere..like a knee a toe or a finger..anywhere...try to relieve your stress. everythings going to be alright!

just set ur hand down and let it relax or if ur taking drugs, it might be a side effect. if it starts hurting, mayb u should see a Dr.
