What you're describing is not a number but a series of numbers on a number line that are less than 40, greater than 50 and odd.

Thus, they would be all number less than 40 and all numbers greater than 50 that are odd.

--10--20--30--40--50--60--70--
<-----------------> <------------->
ODD ONLY

Less than "forty"
Greater than "fifty"
It is very hard.
It is an odd number.

I'd guess "fifty-five" since it is hard to drive fifty-five on the freeway.. and it is found after fifty and before forty in the dictionary.
