You probably have spyware/adware installed on your computer. You should download and run Spybot Search & Destroy or Windows Defender to remove the program. Both these applications are free, easy to find and easy to use. Just put it in Yahoo or Google and you'll find a location to download.

One of your drives is going bad possibly as a result of a power supply that is crapping out. Better back up your hard drive ASAP and then have it checked out. If the drive is going bad and needs replaced I would also replace the power supply. This just happened to me but I didn't do anything about the clicking until my computer would hang up in the middle of booting up and I lost everything. Had to reload original software on new drive and do all the set up work, downloads and updates from scratch.

It might be the different programs that are always running in the background; the disks or CDs can be removed out of their drives if they are in; could be the sound that was defaulted to to indicate a 'try'. Hope this helps.

My clicking sound is due to a pop up blocker. Do you have a program to protect you from phishing? It could be that some program is accessing your computer files.
