is it dangerous to smell benzene during pregnancy?my father in law was putting benzene in his car and i didnt that know so i went the backyard and the smell was really strong.i only smelled it for a couple of minutes.could that do any harm to my baby?did anybody smell benzene when pregnant and their babys were fine?i am 35 weeks pregnant.

I work with chemicals for a living, and benzene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with an exposure limit of 0.1 ppm. If you only smelled it for a couple of minutes in a pretty large setting, you shouldn't be affected by it. But, it has been know to cause a decrease in fetal weight. Just be careful next time.

your bay is past the development stage so it will be fine-and you were not out there very long-its ok!
