I have been dating a man for a year...he told me he was seperated, and was filing for divorce He asked me to marry him in March. Found out on Friday he has been married (not seperated) this whole time, sharing a matrimonial bed with her..etc.. He has lied pathologically about some horrendous things, that I have found out.. Like his father dieing..when he didn't...that his mom tried to attempt suicide. He told me to give my notice to my landlord because we were moving into together, but he had no intentions, as of December 1, I am homeless...do I have anything to work with to get some form of settlement for the emotional abuse.
I DID NOT know he was married.

To the person who said I should have known..if you knew the whole situation..you would know. He was very calculated..his job allowed him to be...and other situations. Don't get me wrong..i met his children, and did stuff with them..
I have lots of proof, emails etc from him stating his desire to marry me.

First of all it's called "Breach of Promise", & you may have a case. You have to be able to prove that he actually proposed to marry you, & you have to be able to prove that you suffered a monetary loss due to his lies. Usually in breach of promise cases, the losses are due to cancelled wedding plans, & the associated costs.
The courts rarely take emotions into account.
I live in Toronto Ontario, & I assume that you live in the Metropolitan Toronto area as well. There is a surplus of rental properties right now. If your landlord won't let you stay where you are now, then you won't have trouble finding a new place, & perhaps an even better one. The only thing you could possibly recover in court would maybe be the cost of the move.
If he was lying to you, then he was lying to his wife even more. She's the one who has been damaged the most here. If you want to see him fry in court, then offer to testify on her behalf if she ever decides to divorce him.
However, I am not a Lawyer.
The Law Society of Upper Canada has a Lawyer referral service.
http://www.lsuc.on.ca/public/a/finding/lrs/
For a small fee of $6.00 you can get a 30 min consultation with a Lawyer specializing in your type of case.

Learn the lessons and move on...I don't think his lies are illegal, just unkewl...they'll come back around on him though, so maybe you can get some tiny amount of satisfaction from that...
...and in the future, stay away from married guys...you started your post with "he told me he was separated" which means you knew he was married (separated is still married) so you can't say you didn't know he was married, although you may not have known he wasn't planning to be divorced...
Sorry to hear about this...I knew a pathological liar once too...karma can be a biotch...don't let your anger toward this guy, cause you to add any negative to yours...

I do believe you have no case first off you were cheating with a
married man that in itself destroys any case as for you giving your notice well it was your choice was it not. If you are smart just forget and carry on with your life. I would just for good measure though contact his wife and tell her he is a two timing prick that should give you a warm feeling inside.

I sure hope no one can sue anywhere for that- that's dumb.
If he was still living with someone else- your a fool for not being able to figure that out.
