Good question. The difference though is as simple as psychology is a science and philosophy is a study. Psychology questions should only be answered through the scientific method. Although philosophy may address or use scientific studies as a basis for arguments, philosophical questions are not restricted to those that must use the scientific method.

There are so many questions that can be answered through both psychology and philosophy - really the difference between the two disciplines is that the question is answered or perceived differently. Psychology answers questions in terms of need and philosophy answers questions in terms of truth. Psychology is usually classified as a science and has many branches (social psych, cognitive psych, ect).

Philosophy, as in the study, is the study of questions that don't have an obvious answer or those which answers are only found through deep thought and possible contemplation. Psychology, as in the study [also], is the study of someone's actions, feelings, and brain chemistry for the purpose of determining something about them, whether it be a mental illness (chronic depression) or simply a quality about the person (passive aggression).

Philosophy is a quest for a comprehensive understanding of human existence. The objective of philosophy is to consider the rational justification of logical inferences, human values, criteria for establishing the claims of knowledge and certainly, and intepretations of the nature of reality. Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. The discipline of psychology embraces all aspects of the human experience from the functions of the brain to the environments in which humans and other animals develop; from child development to aging. Psychology is a science based on a large body of social science and behavioral science research and which is expanding its boundaries to overlap with neuroscience and health science. Psychologists study two critical relationships: one between brain function and behavior, and one between the environment and behavior.

subjectivity is largely excoriated by philosophy.
While psychology may provide anecdotal evidence of collectively-held phenomena, it is hardly the basis for philosophical pursuits. Phenomenology is linked with psychology and suffers in method-- though not as much as Freud, who is a joke in philosophy today.

Philosophy is concerned with reality, not what your petty dreams and fantasies are, your abberrant behavior, breakdowns, or health. None of that matters.
