A very practical way to figure right angle triangle is the use of 3/4/5. 3 and 4 being the legs and 5 is the hypotenuse. It is easy to remember, you will from now on remember that.
It is used to check how square a corner is.

k, the hypotenuse is 5, and the other side is 4.
heres how i did it:
label the missing side (h-1), and the hypotenuse h
now write the pathagorean therum(i think i spelled that wrong, but u know what i mean) write (h-1)^2+3^2=h^2
this would be (h-1)(h-1)+9=h^2
now multiply out the parentheses by using F.O.I.L. this would be h^2-h-h+1+9=h^2
now simplifiy this to h^2-2h+10=h^2
subtract the h^2 from both sides to get -2h+10=0
now add 2h to each side to get 10=2h
divide both sides to get 5=h
now you know that the hypotenuse is 5, and since the missing side was (h-1), you just subtract 1 from 5 to find that the missing side was 4.
hope this helps!!

x = length of hypotenuse
x - 1 = length of unknown leg
3 = length of known leg
set up the pythagorean theorem equation
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
9 + (x - 1)^2 = x^2 FOIL (first, outside, inside last) for (x - 1)^2
9 + (x^2 - 2x + 1) = x^2 the x^2 cancel each other out
10 - 2x = 0
10 = 2x
x = 5
x - 1 = 4
ANSWER
length of hypotenuse = 5 inches
length of leg = 4 inches

3 squared = 9...
4 squared =16
so if you add those up it equals 25...and the square root of 25 is 5 soo i guess the answers are 4 for the leg and the hypotenuse is 5...thats an easy problem seeing as 3,4,5 is the most basic pathagorean triple...

Since we are speakme of forty five-forty five-ninety triangles... Memorize: The aspect reverse the correct perspective (the hypotenuse) = x?two The 2 same aspects reverse the forty five-measure angles (the legs) each = x According to the drawback, the hypotenuse = 60 x?two = 60 x = 60/?two <--Rationalize the denominator. x = 60?two / two x = 30?two The legs are 30?two.

let h=hypotenuse
h^2=3^2+(h-1)^2
h^2=9+h^2-2h+1 subtract h^2 from each side
0=10-2h add 2 h to each side
2h=10
h=5
check
h=5
a=3 (given
b=h-1=5--1=4
5^2+4^2+3^2
25=16+9
25=25
