People are becoming more liberal, but they are also suffering because of it. Liberals tend to have more abortions which deplete their numbers. Since 1973 abortions were legal. Millions of potential voters are not here. So the libs push to get votes where they can. Ethnic groups, by saying that they are victimized. And the poor by promising them welfare. Special rights groups and environmentalists fearing for their future.

I am sure that the words of reporters have had some effect. We live in a country where puritan values still exist. I pray that they never disappear. Being liberal can be offensive to some. I lost my job in aerospace to liberal ideas. Affirmative action and the redistribution of wealth...those new jobs came from somewhere? When I got laid off 350 of my collegues lost their jobs also. The response of the company was that there were too many employees. At the same time the company hired 350 or so more blacks and women. I wish the best for all of us. For me I have to relearn how to make an honest living.

As for things like gay agenda....I respect people decision to be who they are. If I had children I would not want them to believe that this is an acceptable standard. I would want them to respect the values of others and leave them alone. Liberalism will cost the American people the right to choose. Eventually the country will be so liberal that the government will decide everything. Everything includes vaster numbers of abortions...higher taxes...taking of property and liberties through false thinking that it is in the nations interest. I would not be surprised if there is going to be a cap as to how much income an American can make.

Good luck with your liberal values. Just think about this...what if a group of people think much more liberal than you? What if it infringes on your rights to feel comfortable and secure?

Where are the roots of "liberalism?" They are certainly in the press (journalism) and in other areas of academia such as law, humanities, social sciences, even in business. The question should be why? The answer is easy. Liberalism flourishes in academia for the same reason that political correctness flourishes there - money. The money comes from the major tax exempt foundations. Tax exempt foundations are the life blood of academia. The money always comes with strings attached though - university appointments. Over the years, the shape of academia, including journalism, has been shaped.

Many Americans are non-thinking regurgitators. They hear certain notions a few times, embrace the notions as fact, then barf them up like smug little children whenever they see their chance for getting another gold star or another happy face on their vomited up response. They feel proud to feel aligned intellectually with supposed experts.

Many other Americans learn to think for themselves. Despite the prevalence and influence of short sighted people, they use deductive reasoning - and I'm not speaking about conservatives.

By all of this rhetoric, please do not categorize me as a conservative. Both conservative and liberal paradigms create their own thoughtless regurgitations.

The reason Americans have not become more liberal (compared to Europe I presume) is that conservatives are stubborn and won't be swayed by shllow, liberal arguemnt, and the voters in the middle - the more reason-oriented swing voters - refuse to be swayed by mindless posturing of liberals and conservatives alike.

At one time gays and lesbians were almost unheard of. At one time taxes on the average person were a fraction of now. At one time there were no gun laws.
