Ovulation happens 14 days (more or less) after the beginning of your last period and 14 days before the beginning of the next one.

Personally, I don't ovulate every month, but I never notice any differences on my period. I do notice changes in my cervical mucus, though: more abundant and like egg white when I do ovulate.

Ovulation is part of the menstrual cycle, it's the release of an egg from the ovary, and occurs approximately two weeks after the start of your period. Some women feel it as a twinge or slight cramp in the side of the abdomen that goes away in an hour or so. If you don't ovulate one month you don't get as heavy a period as you normally would get, or the flow would appear more brown than red.

Ovulation usually occurs half way thru your 28 day cycle.
