his name is Nicholas or however you like to spell it. he was considered a saint that have presents to children on december 24. Santa Claus is the mispronunciation of Sinterklaas which is the contraction of Sint Nicolaas(Saint Nicholas) in Dutch. but in spanish his name has remained as San Nicolas (Saint Nicholas) for those who dont believe in el niño jesus (baby jesus?)
