The Republicans are not racists, of course... but because being labeled a racist is about the worst thing a person could be labeled here in the U.S., the Democrats spread the word that Republicans are racists, and the mainstream media reports it as fact.
It's great that you just mentioned Byrd in your question... he just got re-elected again this month for another six year term in the Senate... he's the only member of the Senate who was actually in the KKK... and yes, he's a Democrat... and the Democrats love they guy.
LBJ actually held up Civil Rights legislation in 1958 while he was Senate majority leader... the main reason being that he wanted to run for President on a "civil rights" platform in 1960... which means that a Democrat will put their own political future first, and to heck with what's best for the country...
Jim Webb, newly elected Virginia Senator...big time racist, big time Democrat... Jay Rockefeller... the list goes on...

It's an age old tactic that the dems use religiously.
Repeat a lie often enough and long enough and some people will eventually believe it.
Believe half of what you see and nothing that you hear and you will be all right.
Your facts are right on as far as racist democrats are concerned.
To further point out the hypocrisy I would like to add democratic presidential nominee al gore's dad, albert gore senior who voted against the civil rights act of 64 as another shining example of minority repressing democratic history.

Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal. These words used to actually have meaning. Today, they're just words used to divide and control us all. And most of us fall for it. The Republican administration we have today, is anything and everything but conservative. And the Democrats that will take over the house and senate are anything but liberal. I think the whole thing may be a hoax. Like the good cop, bad cop, thing. I think you'll agree that nothing, on either side is sacred anymore. But that's just my perspective. No more, no less.

Because the democrates say they are. In fact it was the republicans that got the 196r civil rights act passed because southern democrates wouldn't vote for it Plus Republicans have had many more blacks in cabinent positions then democrates ever did. Plus more importantly the dem want Blacks to be considered dissadvantaged so they can continue to use them as a voting block for the supposed racist republicans. IIts a shame that Blacks n this nation do not think more for themselves and look seriously at the facts as opposed to voting 90% dem all the tmie..

Republicans are concidered racists because they're not afraid to say that they are proud to be white or in my case german/pennsylvania dutchy. But apparently say ur proud to be a powerful race says that you hate all minorities which is bull.
But how can you blame a racist for being that way. My mother works in a prison where theres thousands of prisoners, she estimates less then 100 are white, the rest are hispanic and black.

The answer might be in an economic coincidence.
Many minorities just don't seem to benefit from many of the economic policies like the current tax cuts, or some of the cutbacks in advanced education.

Ever heard of the saying "what have you done for me lately" ?
No party can afford to think their past accomplishments will command votes in the future. You have to continue to represent your constituents.

Because they get tired of everyone pulling out the race card and are against illegal immigration. Illegals, when they have no other real defence, say that we don't want them here just because we are racist. I have many mexican friends, and many african-american friends.

Good question, I think it is ebcause we feel that everyone should be equal and not grant hand outs or special treatment to people just because of their race, gender, age, or whatever else.

Because back THEN, the repubs were the modern-day democrats, and the dems were the modern-day repubs. It has since drastically changed. NOW, you're all racist because you want to kick out good, hard-working people just because they don't have some stupid papers.
