I work for a computer repair company and we see more compaq and toshiba notebooks coming in with problems all the time, and because most parts on notebooks become dodge after there 12month warranty ,parts can become very expensive to replace. in most cases people will just buy a new laptop rather then replace the parts on the faulty notebook. toshiba and compaq are the worst and can charge over $2,000.00 just for a replacement mother board. I would go with the Sony and get an extended warranty if you can, check out the below link, this sony laptop is awsome

Get a MAC I-book. I have been building computers since 1995 and in my experience Apple makes a far superior computer with a solid operating system, not like windows with all their errors, crashes and freeze ups. I have been on my I-book for a year now and will NEVER buy or use a windows computer again.

I like Apple no viruses when you run OS X. You can run windows also and they have a good design and great tech support (when you run OS X) they don't support windows. Thats my suggestion but IBM compatible or windows only laptops are generally all the same. Just look for one with the specs you need or want and look into there tech support ratings if you can find it.

I always liked Thinkpads. They are ery tough and very very reliable. Remember, unless you absolutely, positively have to have a system that is mobile, consider a desktop instead. A good custom built system is going to be a lot less money, have better performance and be much much more upgradable in the future.
