Bigotry. If homosexuals were allowed to get married, it would only effect those gays and lesbians who got married. It would not effect married straight people or single straight people at all, but some straight people are against gay marriage because of a dislike of gay people and want to deny gay couples marriage to make the gay couples lives harder even though it has no effect on their own lives.

The only state that has legalized it is Massachusetts.
Most people believe it is wrong because of -personal- beliefs that only pertain to them and other that subscribe to similar belief system.

there is ultimately no candid argument against same-sex marriage which makes the fact people are attempting to ban it illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional.

----------------
Teagen is an example of such people.

the incest argument has long been fallacious. people who believe gay marriage would legalize incest haven't pursued the subject much then at face value.

If the parents of a child were to marry someone for sexual purposes why wouldn't they just do it regardless of marriage?

the argument doesn't stand.

Furthermore traditional is in terms of ethics. in society ethics are a belief system. what you believe may not be what i may believe. In just attempting to force those traditional value on others is unconstitutional. its what our country was built on. the basic concept of freedom of expression.

People like this are only attempting to abate the merit of the constitution and the values from which it was created.

i think of gays could have the fabulous to marry and Im a born lower back Christian. yet I do could desire to make sparkling some thing. Christians dont could desire to make it unlawful; it already *is* unlawful. this is our guy or woman states by way of voters (and not purely Christian ones) that are flattening legislations to permit this style of marriage. Are the Muslims vote casting for gay marriage frequently? Are the non-christian Neo Nazis and Michigan militia adult men vote casting for gay marriage. I even have 2 agnostic buddies who're no longer professional gay marriage, yet i'm (and that i'm a fundamentalist) i be conscious of I went a distinctive way than you meant initially which contain your question, yet i spotted your wording and that i felt i mandatory to handle it as I felt it grew to become right into somewhat deceptive.

BIGOTRY, pure and simple. A fear of and hatred of what is different. Allowing TWO CONSENTING ADULTS to marry is NOTHING like allowing incest or marriage to animals, because in both of those cases, one of the entities is NOT a consenting adult. Saying that same-sex couples are ANYTHING like bestiality or incest is an example of the very bigotry and ignorance that causes same-sex marriage to be illegal.

its not illegal, its impossible. there are no ways for homosexuals to do something that can't be done. Marriage is between a man and a woman, anything else is a shoddy counterfeit. If homosexuals wanted to do something similar but different they shouldn't call it marriage.

If it were to be made legal, it would open the floodgates for more legal changes to married law. Only a small percentage of people are gay, and equally small percentages may wish to make incest, marriage between adults and children, and marriage to animals legal as well.thus, marriage would cease to be what it is, and the traditional culture of America would change in a way that is not beneficial to society.
