Tycho Brahe. He wasn't really known for being an astronomer [ even though he was] as much as he is remembered for being a meticulous measure and recorder of things.
In astronomy there are things called Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion. Well, Johannes Kepler was mentored by Brahe and came up with his Laws using all the information Brahe had compiled in his observations.
Bit of trivia: Brahe [maybe due to a fight or something I forget] was missing his nose and had many decorative, flamboyant prosthetic ones he wore.
Little more trivia: because he is remembered for measuring things so precisely, this is a part of the reason the people who establish the world's time through use of very very precise cesium clocks have their web address as http://tycho.usno.navy.mil

Danish Father of Modern Astronomy
Tycho Brahe was born in 1546 in Knudstrup, which currently is in southern Sweden but was a part of Denmark at the time. While attending the universities of Copenhagen and Leipzig to study law and philosophy, he became interested in Astronomy and spent most evenings studying the stars.
