The Statue of Lierty stands in New York Harbourt and the American institution values freedom above all. Yet liberals are vilified and liberal is a dirty word.
This seems a schizophrenic attititude. (Apologies to schizphrenics).
Are Americans schizophrenic or just plain stupid?

Forest Gump is famous for the saying "Stupid is as stupid does".
Likewise, Liberal is as liberal does. And, generally speaking, liberals align themselves with our enemies and for the most part stand for everything immoral, illegal and fattening. (Ok, I lied about the fattening part).
So the fact that "Liberal" is a dirty word is a situation they brought upon themselves.

Because North America is not really as free as France is. I think we have more freedom in France for many things especially freedom of saying what we want to say. I just did it. Just see how North Americans are going to answer you question and compare. By the way did you know that the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the Americans. The original statue is in France, in Paris, looking over the Seine river.

Well liberals goverment ideas are far from any goverment we've yet had. For some people that's a scary thing. I hope some day that will change and liberals will be given more of a chance because I think some have amazing ideas for the future of this country.

Because there is "free" and then there is "free".
A teacher once told me, "Each person's rights are limited, each ending at the point someone else's begins." Meaning that we might all have rights and freedoms, but they aren't all inclusive, because each right will eventually intrude upon someone else's right if they are granted absolute freedom to exercise it. Whenever someone takes, then there is always someone else who has to give or be taken from.
Liberals for the most part believe certain people should be granted more freedom to exercise certain rights, even if it is at the expense of other people's rights. And that is basically the problem some people have with liberals.

Because liberal doesn't mean "liberty" anymore. It means "something that conservatives hate". Not everyone thinks that way, but there are enough to make it seem so. But if liberal means "chaos", then coservative means "controlled". And if chaos is freedom, then controlled is bound. And you know what? I'm a libertarian! Take that, mainstream society!
And to ask your question--All Americans are warped. It's because everything is so contradictory.

"Liberal" isn't a dirty word to most Americans.
It's treated as one by ignorant neo-conservative know-nothings who can't stand anybody who doesn't agree with them. That group makes up less than 10% or so of the population, but some of them are VERY VOCAL ;-)

In my humble opinion, liberalism has been corrupted by socialist and hedonist. It is one thing to be open minded, but not to smart to take it as far as the destruction of a society. There is a such thing as right and wrong. Most Americans know this.
