Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html
I can also give a few links that offer free virus and spyware removers...! AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

First of all paid or free?
For paid I would go with Kaspersky, very expensive but worth while... In the 70$ range.. Or you can go with something else..
Kaspersky - http://www.kaspersky.com
Nod32- http://www.eset.com/
Just not MacAfee or Norton, I don't know why people like it but it will make your computer even slower... Its like a virus itself, hard to remove, and slow as **** on a hot summer road... Installing it will take hours because of the virus, and scanning is a *****.. I had it and scans were soo ******* slow..
For free: Go with AVG, it found 50 viruses that Norton "missed"... Or you can go with Avast..
Avast finds more, but more complicated
http://www.avast.com
AVG finds less, but faster and less complicated...
http://www.grisoft.com
Free version is in there some where, dig deep.
Take a look at this..

Try AVG
www.grisoft.com
If you need a better detecting software and better virus knowledge based software
Buy PC-CILLIN, the file is small for installing anti-virus software only.
