I'm not sure but u should speak to a doctor for a professional opinion, it may be that you just need to seek some reassurance that your doin fine, sounds to me that you really lack confidence in yourself and this could be whats making you feel bored and withdrawn from a social life, maybe you should just get all your problems out in the open to someone here because no one knows you so u cant be judged, and u might be surprised at the encouragement and advice you can get from ppl u dont even know.. take care x

There are tests on the web and other places to take to see if you are depressed. Lonely and feeling blue is a normal reaction to life; depression is a medical condition and MUST be treated. If in doubt, do not be ashamed to get a doctor's opinion. It is difficult to mingle in today's society, with its sexual openness and to fit in at work, when the job may suck.
If nothing else, try to move on in work; ie train for something different, where you will have more power over your job/life. It may take awhile and even be a lot of work, but it will allow you to refocus your life and come out on top. Invest in yourself. Fat, thin, who cares (OK, society focuses on thin, but you don't have to.) Get that education, mentally thumb your nose at those who want a casual sexual fling, as you'll be too busy living to worry about what THEY want you to do, and you'll be doing what YOU want to do. Go for it!

I knew I was depressed because I thought about death way too much and I just never wanted to leave the house, but I would still get up and go to work. I didn't/don't care about much of anything and I am sometimes an emotional wreck...the meds I'm on help with all of that.

Here's a clue. If you're lonely, and spot a £20 note lying onthe ground outside your window, you'll go and get it. If you're depressed, you probably wouldn't be looking out of the window in the first place.

Depression is when your sadness starts to affect your ability to function. When I had my worst case of depression I ended up flunking college that semester because I was so depressed that I stayed in bed instead of attending classes.
