If you listen you'll notice that it's about turning the tables on a once dominant woman and a man who tired of being submissive.
Sexist? yes, but all good songs are not politically correct. How about "brown sugar"? It's a song about sex with a slave girl.

Rock and Roll, love it or leave it Tipper

How could the Rolling Stones write a sexist song?

Have you LISTENED to 90% of old rock & roll? Let's talk about "Pearl Necklace" by ZZ Top...

The Rolling Stones were always the bad boys of rock. It's made clear in the song, the girl is getting paid back for treating him the exact same way. It's only a song, a story, not reality.

And it sounded damn good in concert last month, too!

It is INSANELY sexist, but most of the songs by the stones fall into that category. Actually, many songs in general seem to fit the mold as well. The time frame was obviously an issue, but even today songs, much worse, are getting air play and worse yet, praise.

We really need to be thinking more about the messages we are sending people, as artists songwriters and even consumers of music... There is SOMETHING to be said about artistic license and social responsibility.

Good question, thank you for bringing it up!

Of course it is a bit sexist but If you listen to the song it is about him turning the tables on her because he used to be the one under her thumb... so was that sexist on her part? It was 1966 for Christ sake... let it go, it is a classic.

Of course its sexist, but consider the times and context and singers. If you want feminist friendly lyrics, why on earth would you listen to the Stones and their lyrics from thirty years ago?
