That explains why most men are the 'strong silent type'. or they are more uncommunicative than their female counterparts.

Is this true ? Was there scientific studies to back up the claim ?

LOL at some of these "female superiority" answers. Perfect examples of the feminist agenda and its effect on our society and the minds of women...feminist or not.

The survey was done with over 100 people in an office environment. On the average, men spoke 11,000 word per day while women spoke 27,000. The interesting part is that, while at work, each spoke about the same...9,000. So, when they get home, the man is about done and the woman is just getting started.

Now that the truth is known, perhaps we can see (or surmise) what some of the real reasons are for this. The truth is that women NEED (that's right you feminists out there) more affirmation than men. This comes in the way of emotional support that comes through, you guessed it, talking. While she obviously gets some of this from her husband (who, being the good man that he is, knows that his part to play in this is a lot of active listening), she certainly spends some of those 18,000 words (while away from the office) yakking on the phone with her friends.

I could believe it. Hunter/gatherers would tend to be silent while the homemakers would be communicating with the children in the historical role of the sexes.

I would put an average man's cell phone bill against a woman's any day.

Yes, I've heard this too. In addition there is more communication between the left & right brain of women which increases communication & multi-tasking skills.

I'm pretty sure men die earlier because of testosterone. not bottled up feelings. i wouldn't be surprised about that fact tho. my mother for example talks non-stop, while my father only talks when he has to. i think girls just enjoy talking/ or like to hear themselves more than men do.

hmmm... There is a study that has a lot of variables. I heard about this too. Do not believe everything you hear. It is a silly statistic if you think about it, what jobs did they have, what was there mood, were they single or married, how old were they, where are they from, what type of personality do they have?
The list goes on...

Generalizations are always false!

Not sure, but as for me, I can't stand women that yak endlessly without breathing - I find it very annoying. Information overload for me and spare me the gossip crap too.

Women say it once, then break it down into one syllable words for the men to understand it.
