The universe consits mostly of dark energy (95 percent) with about 25 percent of that being dark matter. Then, about 4 percent is free hydrogen and helium. Stars, about .5 percent, neutrinos, .3 percent and heavy elements (metals, iron etc.) about .003 percent. Further more, the density of the universe has been calculated to about one hydrogen atom for every cubic meter of space. So as you can see the matter that is visible, makes up a very miniscule amount of the universe.
