Your guinea has what is called "wet bottom"...diarrhea...give her just a quarter teaspoon of immodium....DO NOT put her in water...take a warm wet paper towel and clean her bottom....Be careful to watch her as wet bottom can be fatal. Make sure her cage is VERY clean.

I have 3 guinea pigs at home, and 2 of them are long haired. My guinea pig, Zippy, has the same problem. I suggest taking her to the vet immediately! And from that point on, use fleece instead of shavings because you don't have to worry about it getting it stuck in their fur, and the Guinea Pig will think it's much more comfortable. If the vet won't do anything, carefully trim the shavings out, but be careful not to poke your baby. I hope all goes well!

Unfortunately you will have to cut the hair ever so carefully. You can try to give the piggy a bath, and pick out the knots and shavings, I take in a lot of piggies and most that are matted we end up trimming the hair, to remove the knots. Long haired piggies such as Abby's or Peruvians must be brushed daily yo avoid this.

After long thought on this the only solution I could come up with is to give it a warm bowl bath just bathing the bottom area if it will let you. Or fill kitchen sink with warm soapy water just enough to touch bottom and bathe off.(As long as its not afraid of water).Youre right it might be hurting her as it pullson the skin if it gets to matted down.

Dont bathe her, her fur is too thick and will take to long to dry and she could get sick. If possible carefully trim the fur, if not use a damp wash cloth to loosen the liter and hey use a tissue to pull it gently off. (this happens to my rabbit all the time, good luck :) )

sorry to say this but it would be easy to damp her with warm water and get it out or you could try conditioner to make her hair smooth enough and it might get the shavings out

Put her bottom under the faucet and use warm water. If it doesn't get out all the shavings, carefully cut them out.
