Red Foxx was a comedian first, and had great skills to pull off the show as natural. On top of that he used a lot of his own material to make the show a success. It crosses ethnic lines as did other shows such as The Jeffersons, The Cosby show, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Good Times, and In living Color. They were quality shows.
Too much is often made of Ethnic differences, but very little is mentioned that mankind has 99% of the same genetic makeup. So we are not much different in human form, just attitude, LOL

I don't think that the show is AIMED at anyone, black, white or hispanic. As a matter of fact, many of the characters on the show or of different races, such as his Jewish competitor, the white cop, and the hispanic neighbor. If a show is good, it will be funny to all people, not just to the people who are the same race as the main character.

I loved Sanford and Son. The comedy was raw and honest. Redd Foxx was a great comedian, I didn't pay much attention to the color of their skin. The show was FUNNY!
