The deposition of the Stuart Kings and the move to crown william and mary surely means that the present queen who was an ancestor of Mary is not in fact the true queen. The Stuart kings were all directly descended from Robert The Bruce. Can anybody confirm if I am right or Wrong

Yes, she is "the rightful" Queen of England. No one can lay claim to her throne. No one in her own family can touch the throne because of her direct descent from Queen Victoria to her father King George VI. During the Coronation, with all the major heads of the European and Asian nobility there, she was declared the Rightful and Just, true Queen of England, the United Kingdom, etc. No one interjected or tried to usurp her throne which had been in her family since at least the early 1800's. If they haven't done it in 200 years now, I think her jobs safe. Not to mention she was related to everyone there.

History is written by the winners, and William won. The Stuarts, if you look closely enough, had a rather dubious claim to the crown, and William I (the conquerer) took the throne by force anyway.

The Stuarts were related to the English line as well.

Correction to Corezinc, she would be the Queen, as Edward died without children.

Actually, the present Queen is the ancestor of four children ... three sons and one daughter ... and of the children of those four. As far as I know, there is not a "Mary" among them. So, Her Majesty is NOT an ancestor of any Mary!!

If you are trying to make another claim for the Jacobite cause,
then remember also that Tanistry could be invoked and so it would be difficult to determine the actual lineal descendant who would be Sovereign.

Jacobites would claim what you suggest. Look it up at Wikepedia and discover a whole line of Bavarian princes who if anyone were a serious Jacobite might thrust to claim the thrown. Really, a Queen has no more right to rule than the will of the people to subject themselves to it. So in that sense, she is rightfully ruling a people who seem willingly to be subject to her. They could always do what they did to King Charles I, but lets not lose her head over such matters.

the stewart line ended with James 2, he had no legt children, you've heard of Bonny Princes Charlie? well charlie and his brother edward ( both born in Italy) claimed they were he righful king of Britain. Both bastard sons of a bastard of Jame's 2. sooooooooooooowilliam and Mary were asked to claim Mary was James 2 sister and by rights, should have ruled alone, BUT william said NO WAY JOSE, so Parliament ruled they both have a joint crown that was settled and also they were protestant.
well, I hope this helps.

What's ironic is that even if the Queen's uncle had never left the throne, Elizabeth would still be Queen. Since her uncle never had kids, she was next in line and would have ascended to the throne when the uncle died in the '70's.

The Queen is only Queen because of a divorce in the family. Were it not for that she would not be Queen.

There are always scandals within history. You are probably right but there is nothing we can do about it. It is not the queen's fault at all.

Probably not as she is descended from the germans who were only brought in to preserve the protestant ascendancy
