Psychology pretends to be a science and relevant, while philosophy just tries to be relevant. Rather like comparing apples and oranges by an obligate carnivore.

well psych is much more of a science and deals more specifically with known problems in a person. Philosophy might be a way to keep people from developing those problems though, if they follow a good one.

In psychology you're trying to understand your own life.(or one other person's life at a time) In philosophy you're trying to understand life in general....everyone's lives.

psychology is a science for a start, theories are tested with rigorous scientific methods.
philosophy is not a science, there are no right or wrog answeres and its not falsifiable because its not tested.
