Your first step is to find a good realtor that you can work with to find the home you want next will be getting financing approved
this will usually take sometime and good credit is a good thing at this point. Next you will want contact a lawyer or Notary to complete some of the title changes and other paper work. But realy the main thing is to have some form of down payment
5% or higher based on the value of the home is usually normal
remember the more you are able to put down the lower the payments. Just another thing you cannot get a loan to put money down this must come in the form of a gift or personal monies that you have saved over time or what I did was I sold my car to help pay for some of the fees you can always get another car but finding the house you have been searching for well there is usually only one.

I went to my bank and they told me about some first time home buyer classes and when i finished them they gave me a grant for a thousand dollars down payment towards my house. It really helped with knowing what to watch for and how to find the right house

First of all determine the location of your choice. Then search out the houses available in that area. Search in the internet.

Start with a broker/loan person and see how much you can get a loan for and then go shopping. The real estate people will help you too.
