I saw a documentary on elephants one time and they act almost like humans do when it comes to social interaction...they even have funerals and mourn their dead...

Yes. When they walk by elephant bones, they touch them gently and pick them up with their trunks in mourning. Elephants live in familes and care for each other. They also have been known to go on angry rampages which is believed to be caused by the elephants seeing other elephants killed by man. There is a program called "Why dogs smile and chimpanzees cry" which shows many types of animals' emotions (it shows elephants rescuing a baby from a mud hole). Try Animal Planet or TLC (cable). That's where I've seen programs showing elephants displaying emotion.

I do believe elephants/animals have feelings. On "World's most amazing videos" I have seen more than one clip of an elephant acting out of rage. Both occasions the elephants got out of control during a circus act and charged at the crowd... Anyhow they say the elephants acted this way because they were cooped up all day with shackles on their feet, and not fed well in unhygienic situations.

Actually Yes!!!
They are very emotional animals. They even mourn their dead. I saw a show once where a mama elephant lost her baby & she wouldn't leave it. She wept over the baby & kept touching it. The other elephants in the herd were mourning with her. It was very touching....
They will even come to the rescue of one of their own as well....

yes they do because when an elephant dies, the rest of the herd will get these tear like markings on their face and act sad, or at least something like that...
