so when you tip a pizza delivery person do you tip like you would at a normal resturant or do you just give them like a dollar or something despite what the total amount spent was?

YES! Do not assume that the delivery charge goes to the driver. The business collects it. Look at the delivery charge as a convenience charge. You should still tip. They make a very low wage and make a living off of tips. I always give them at least 20%.

I always add on a tip because this person is working because they have to. If I have a big order for my family in the $25 range, I'll give a $5 tip. I tend to order from a familiar pizza place so the deliverers are people I see from time to time. The other day I picked up a big order and someone offered to help me put it in my trunk and I gave him $2 for doing that. Technically, you don't have to, but morally, I think tipping is the right thing to do.

when you call to order the pizza you can ask if the delivery person gets the delivery charge or not. if it does go to the delivery person, you can decide for yourself if you think it is enough of a tip for him or if you should add on to it. some of these drivers have to pay their own gas, use their own cars and if they are in an accident while working it goes on their insurance and not on the restaurants. well, im talking if they are "off the books" on the insurance part. dont be afraid to ask who gets the delivery charge when you call.

Absolutely !! The Pizza Parlor adds a dollar on your bill for delivery, that is not much whomever gets it .Those guys work hard for their tips and they should get them, always !! If you order from the same place a lot, you are in their computer and those guys know who are the tippers, bet you will get your food faster next time too.

OF course! These kids work for tips. And pay for their own gas. the delivery fee goes to the restaurant to help cover the cost to keep a driver on the payroll for "x" hours a day. The driver gets none of it.
Tip 20%. $2.00 on a $10 pizza or $3 on a dinner order is not a big deal, and you should consider it a "convenience fee" for you not to have to leave your house to get food or to cook.

The driver does not get the delivery charge, that goes to the pizza joint. If you want to thank the delivery driver, you need to tip.

Of course, you have to tip. The delivery person did not "add on" the delivery charge.Don't penalize the delivery guy because of management rules.

That delivery charge stays with the restaurant except for a small fee to the delivery kid. You need to also tip that kid directly when he shows up at your door.

Actually, I like to give tip to people who deliver pizza. Only once I did not tip because of bad attitude.

The delivery charge goes to the restaurant, the tip goes to the driver. So yes- please tip a few dollars; Gas prices are outrageous!

Remember, what goes around comes around- consider it good karma.
