The difference is a willingness to stick by him when things are "worse". Being "IN" love means that the euphoric feelings will dissapate within a 15 month period and you can easily imagine yourself with someone else when things go bad. True love will cause you to consider the loyalty, respect, and consequences of your actions and how they will affect your mate and prevent you from crossing the infidelity line.

The difference is 100%....Like when I call a friend I haven't seen in weeks, months, or whatever. When I hang up I will tell her "I love you", take care. You, by you question loves your mate, and that is swell. If however; being in love with you mate is different. If you totally love you mate you are in a sense committed to him, or her. Big difference. See I could love you, and don't even know you. I have ex-girlfriends that I may call and upon hanging up and saying good-bye, I will say, Danna I love you. To me that is natural but "I am not in love with her". I have been divorced since 1985. I still get a birthday card from my ex (single), I still get a Christmas card from her, and I also send her the same. In fact this year I sent her an Anniversary card also telling her, "Beverly it would be twenty-eight years today, August 29, 1977. Remember we had the Elvis Tickets at the Birmingham Civic Center and we never got to see him.
She called me and we talked for hours. She cannot live with anyone, and never re-married and neither did I. Enemies. Not a chance. She has done well for herself and she knows that if things happened she knows that I would do anything in the world to help her.

Loving your mate is more like a deep care, something like loving your family member or close friend. Being in love is when you look at that person and know that you love them. It is not said with words but, with actions.

i love my mate but I am not in love with him. loving him is tolerating he's a jerk and he won't be there to help you if you have a ton object falling on you. He could care less and go back to playing Kal online.. oh look i leveled again.. oh wow look at my bow.. Loving them is just still being with them. In love with them means that you understand that they would help you and you know they'd be there cause they are in love with you too.

a person can love any one, but to be in love with a person is vastly different. it's a very different feeling..much deeper and carries a different meaning than i love you. you may be in to other people, but to be in love with someone takes you deeper into that person. deeper in ways that are different than your love feelings for friends. being in love with my family is different than being in love with my husband. its hard to put into words...its more emotional and emotions are not easily explained. being in love with my husband will make me so overly happy and satisfied with him....smiling when i see differences in his personality and mine and also being so damn angry with him that i just absolutely wish not to speak a word and the site of him just pisses me off. ita a wonderful whirlwind of emotion that i wouldn't trade for anything because being in love with my husband doesn't leave me looking elsewhere.
