I always pay with an Official Scrabble dictionary an IQ is not a word in that dictionary.

You are correct. Abbreviations are not allowed. Even if you can find them in your dictionary. The best way to resolve this sort of problem is to pick up the official Scrabble Dictionary. Which does not include IQ.

No it shouldn't be allowed. IQ is an abbreviation of Intelligence Qutotient. But if it is in the dictionary they probably will accept it.
