My local Chinese buffet has a sushi bar, and honestly, the sushi is all I'm there for. I'll go up for sushi about three times, not requesting anything from the sushi chef. How should I tip him? It's embarassing to be at the bar multiple times, but it's an all-you-can-eat buffet. Does tipping the chef make it more acceptable to take more sushi?

It is a buffet so tipping is nice but not realy expected. If you were in a restaurant where there are only a few customers and that guy was making something special then a healthy tip would be expected. He is paid to make sushi and you are paying to eat it so you are good without a tip.

Multiple visits are not an issue unless you are wasting food. Many Buffet owners become agitated when a customer fills their plate only to throw it away, it is very wasteful and costs them too much in lost profits. If you are eating what you get, there is no issue with how many visits you make. A tip for the sushi chef is a nice compliment but not necessary to obtain more from the buffet. Hope this helps!
