i was admitted to hospital when i was 3cm dilated on a tuesday(most prob admitted cos i was only 15 and very petite, they didnt think i'd have a natural birth, and that i'd need a caesarean).every day they checked on me,i was still 3cm but only getting the odd pain every 15mins then every hr etc.a midwife came to me on the friday and said they could start me off that day,i refused because it was friday 13th,they managed to start me off on the saturday, they popped my waters, and i started dilating very quickly.hopefully she should go into labour soon, try to reassure her that she;s most probably dilating and getting no pain,so will have a quick birth, with my 4th baby i woke up at 10am on his due date, with no pain at all,got in the bath at 2pm,next thing i know, getting contractions every 2 minutes(just like that),was at the hospital within 20 mins and had my beautiful son 30mins later.

If she is near her due date tell her to go for a long walk up an average hill and that might get baby excited enough to come out (near the maternity unit of course!!) If she is 3cm that means her cervix is ready, but the baby isn't. I was 2 cm for 14 days before labour and when my contractions started i was still 2cm for the first six hours of labour!!

Your friend should definately go to her Doctor or OBGYN if she is worried! Why on earth would you sit and wait at home without knowing a solid answer when you have an innocent life inside you!
I do not feel that she should sit around waiting for something to happen, if she feels more comfortable at home, consult your local blue or pink pages and check for a Nurse Hotline(24hours) that can give you professional advice, I am sure that they will reccommend that she go to the doctor and be examined, they may even decide to induce her labor... but don't just rely on feedback from people on the internet, Good Grief...

in the event that they're beginning as much as harm thats a sturdy difficulty :) when I first began having contractions that certainly harm extremely they have been unusual & they stayed unusual acceptable as much as when I went to the wellbeing facility & then for specific i wasn't timing them any further yet i had some that have been 3 minutes aside, some that have been 7 minutes apar.t i understand that's stressful i grew to alter into 5 days previous due with my lady toddler yet your infant will come collectively as he's waiting. My labour lasted approximately 24 hours from the 1st little contraction & i on no account had a show or something so it seems such as you would be assembly your little bubba very rapidly! sturdy success :D xxx

Some women can stay dilated around from 1-3 cm for up to a couple of months (of course that depends on where in pregnancy you are).

tell her to get up and go 4 a walk walking has been known to bring on labour, it also helps during contractions. the baby will come int its own time.

dont worry, a woman can stay like that for a very long time. try getting up and going for a walk, dance, just do anything active. Also maybe take a shower or get in the bath...i guarantee it will help!
