In Western astrology, the four elements are Air, Water, Earth, and Fire.
Air signs are Libra, Aquarius, Gemini.
Fire signs are Leo, Aries, Sagittarius.
Water signs are Pisces, Scorpio, Cancer.
Earth signs are Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo.
As for Chinese astrology, the elements used in that are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth.
Metal "governs" Monkey, Rooster, and Dog.
Water "governs" Pig, Rat, and Ox.
Wood "governs" Tiger, Rabbit, and Dragon.
Fire "governs" Snake, Horse, and Ram.
Earth "governs" Dragon, Dog, Ram, and Ox.

earth water fire air are the elements.
Cancer, Pisces, and Scopio are the Water.
Leo, Aries and Saggys are fire
Tauras, Virgo and Cappys are earth
Geminis, Aquarius, and Libras are air

Hi Ryan, I agree with this, except I think fire is the higher manifestation of water, while air is indeed a higher manifestation of earth. Fire is the rawest element in the zodiac, and is the purest in the sense that, in the real world, waste particles can not exist in fire. Fire and air are the loftier elements that are meant to rise high, rather then be on the earth, and which aspire to higher ways of thinking that are not down to earth. Water and earth, are more down to earth, and their thoughts are reactions are more based on the real world then intuition of the mind. I drew this conclusion from knowing people that of all elements. The earth and water signs are more materialistic and earthier, while I have know air and fire people that are more lofty, and spiritual. This is just based on personal opinion though. Maybe you're correct.. who knows. It's always good to think =).
