What would you class as a big person?

Me and my partner were having this talk earlier tonight and he says after a size 14, you are a big person (meaning overweight)!

I disagree with him as I think it depends on a persons height, bone structure and body frame, and what their parents frames are like. Also obviously diet and fitness contributes.

I mean in am 5ft 9in and size 14, when we first met I was a 12 only due to walking four miles a day and living on student food !

What do you think is big?

Good Question.
I think you are right, I am 5ft 8.5 and am now a size 14 and am 12.5 stone, I am clinically overweight and I do feel overweight, as last year I was a size 10-12 and weighed 10.5 stone, but I looked really gaunt. I def think it depends on body type, people tell me I look good with weight while others say I look awful thin, so it's swings and roundabouts. I feel happy at size 12 and 11.5stone.

I'm 5ft8in and some of my clothes are a size 14 (pants and shorts, particularly). I could stand to lose some weight, but I wouldn't call myself "big" - in fact a collegue recently called me skinny! I'd say we're a little overweight, but not big. We're tall, so of course we're going to wear larger clothes. The last time I fit into a size 8 I was 120 pounds - definitely underweight! I agree with you - height and bone structure play a huge role in determining a person's ideal weight.

I agree with you, It depends on the persons height. I mean i am 5'9" 1/2 and I'm a size 5 or 7. And i'm not underweight im 132 lbz. So, If someone is a size 14 doesnt mean they are a big person. it def. depends on they body frame ect.

the average size for a woman in the uk is now a size 16. This placed against the average height of a women means that most women are in the over wight catogery. however I think anythink over size 16 and you risk health problems, it's not about being a big person it's about being comfortable and a lot of people i know who are size 16 are unhappy with the way they look, they also suffer with back problems etc..

I think body proportions have a lot to do with it. You could put 2 size 14 women together and they could look completely different. ie- big bust, small waist (flat tummy), rounded hips and a J Lo bum or the typical apple/barrel shape, smallish bust, rolls around tummy and a wide flat bum.
And whats with Alfie saying you cant pull at a size 14?! I'm a 12/14 (well proportioned) and I'm beating them off with a stick!! ha ha

Big is above 14! Ten is perfect, hence the expression "perfect 10" but you can go to a twelve by having better hips and boobs than a ten, therefore making 12 better than perfect! At fourteen you've gone a bit far though! If you started with your man as less than fourteen, then he will not even notice! But you're unlikely to pull at that size. Anything above that and you're just comedy value!

Hope I haven't upset/offended anyone with this answer, everyone is beautiful! I'm hardly an Adonis!

dress sizes have all shifted up by 2" since WW2 so were all a size bigger then what we think we are. i think you need to take into consideration leg length and Brest size. eg implants or big naturals. the best way to determine big" is by inch sizes on specific areas eg bust, waist, hips, 32,24,35 are deemed to be perfect. while you may have these measurements but are tall so you may need a size bigger

have to say that i agree with you. i have a friend who is a size 16, but she's nearly 6ft and in no way does she look like what you would think a typical size 16 would look like!
