Nascar is a true American sport, because the people involved with Nascar love what they are doing, and Nascar is the only major sport with a pregame invocation. Lot's of people (especially people from the northern states) say bad stuff about Nascar, and they say Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart are gay ... they are not and never will be. I don't understand why so many people don't like it?

By the phrase 'True American Sport' wouldn't that mean that everyone involved in the sport is only from America? I must admit that I don't know much about the sport but I'm pretty sure that's not true.
My only problem with the sport is that one phrase. Many potenial viewers from around the world will be put off by the idea that you and possibly many others have about what the sport represents.
My fellow Europeans' insult the sport because of the sterotypical view (ie Red Necks, etc) because of that one phrase.
It's sad but true.

When people say these things they do not know the facts.Most of them are just tring to get someone to shoot off and lose their temper all the while they sit back and laugh their buns off.
I have been going to races for over 40 years,and hopefully I'll go to many more.
Some people don't consider autoracing a sport so they bash it when in fact the are not sport fans at all.Some would rather watch an info mercial to any sporting event but they act like they are super jocks by the name they give themselves.But sadly the are no where like their names .
The sport of autoracing is making a mass media campaign to advertise and bring products to people.If a car wins on Sunday sales goes up with that brand on Monday.When a sponsors name on a car on Sunday we buy that product or go to that shop or that store.People that bash racing do not know that yet when they buy a car or go into their home improvement store they are supporting racing.

They don't like NASCAR because they don't understand it. Some of these people don't like or participate in any sport. They rag on NASCAR and other sports because they're jealous. They would much rather sit they're lazy back sides in front of their computer all day and talk about how bad and stupid a sport and it's fans are. Than to actually watch or participate and find out what their missing. Otherwise, if they don't know what their talking about and put the sport down, don't pay them no mind. Because they're the ones that look stupid.

what a bunch of ignorant answers. number 1, the engineering involved to make a 3600 lb car with driver on 10 inch wide tires stay on a say 24 degree banked track like Texas Motor Speedway is incredible. no 2, try sitting in a 120-130 degree environment with g-forces pushing your head to the headrest and turning that wheel is not like a Sunday drive in the ole family pick-up truck. number 3, fender crashing, helmet throwing, finger giving races like the night Bristol race is not boring, so that is a good question, guess they need to attend a race or look at it differently.

They are just Haters and never heard anyone say Tony Stewart was gay that's news to me it mostly just Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson with the gay rumors because they are the best there is Go Jimmie ! Go Jeff ! Jimmie is Gonna win the Championship he sure deserves it !

Hahahaha. You know, this question is gettin quite offensive!! How would you people like to be stereo typed? poisioneva, I am not white trash, how do I know you are not the trash. Just because someone likes to watch something doesn't make them ignorant of the world, or dumb. I'm an educated, college graduated woman, and I love NASCAR!!! I am proud to be a REDNECK! I live in the north and it's not as big up here as it is in the south, but its still likable up here!

I would have to say I am one of those people,
but only because like I live in Australia and we
dont really have much coverage of NASCAR driving.
Down here the Bathurst 1000 is tha bomb and
the V8 SuperCar Series is off tha hook.
