1/2 step is one fret. first string E flat second string B flat third string G flat forth string D flat fifth string A flat sixth string E flat.
You must first find E flat for your first string. Either use a tuner or some other reference. The second string will be tuned to the first string at the fifth fret. The third string will be tuned to the second string at the fifth fret. The forth string will be tuned to the third string at the fifth fret. The fifth string will be tuned to the forth string at the forth fret. The sixth string will be tuned to the fifth string at the fifth fret.
This is the same as standard concert tuning except all the strings are one note lower.

yes, this is tuned down a 1/2 step. however, your 4th string needs to be a Db not a Bb. Most digital tuners can be set to recognize tuning down a 1/2 step.

As lengthy as you'll uncover a reference tone (from a good-tuned piano or different tool), you'll be trained to do that with out a tuner. I have been gambling for a couple of months earlier than I purchased a tuner (my dad insisted that I be trained to track through ear first). Try gambling an E on a piano, after which track your most sensible string to it. Now play the notice on the 5th be concerned of that string. That's an A, and that is the notice you have got to track the following string all the way down to. Play the 5th be concerned in your A string, and track the following string all the way down to that notice, which must be a D. Play the 5th be concerned of your D string now, and track your subsequent string to it, as a way to be your G string. Next, play the FOURTH be concerned of your G string, which must be a B. Tune the moment from the backside string to this notice. Now track your final string to the 5th be concerned of your B string. This must even be an E, so verify it along with your first E string. You would possibly have got to return via a few occasions earlier than you get the entire strings in track, however you'll be able to get the grasp of it quickly sufficient.

Just bring the note you usually tune to half step down. if you look on piano it is the black key to the right of the one you would normally use. Hope this helps.
