Go to add remove programs, delete any programs that you no longer use! You can also compress files that you don't use that often. click on Start, Then control panel, then performance and maintenance. Then click on free up space on your hard drive run this program. If you have never run this program before, I see that take up to three hours to compress the drive. After you have done these two things you might want to defragment your hard drive.

Turn off System Restore. That monstrosity will eat up a third of your hard drive. Make sure hibernation support is disabled. It uses a big damn file to run. Deinstall all those video games you haven't played in three years.
Store your seldom used mp3s and video files on a CD and take them off the hard drive.

either get a larger hard drive or clean it by using the disk cleaner (start, programs, accessories, system, disk cleaner). another way is to burn to cd/dvd any files you don't use but want to keep in the long run.
