Worth the money?

Ive been there twice. It is 250 dollars a pop for a day there. Obviously the highlight of the day is swimming with the dolphins, and that will only take 45 minutes out of your entire day.

This alone doesnt make it worth it in my opinion. So they add in the extras of the park, such as the coral reefs, the aviary, and lazy river and free food. Now these additions are nice.. but im still iffy on if it is worth it or not.

I honestly would not recommend it because in the back of my mind i know it is really hard to say if it is worth it. It depends greatly on your expectations. It IS a great experience and I loved it, but did not pay for it so it is hard for me to answer if it is worth it or not. The best part imo was the free food and the dolphins. The dolphins were nice but you did not get to swim with them that much, just touch them a lot and have it all very well documented and photographed (see note below). And by free food i do mean good free food.. i ate so much there.

The coral reefs, rivers, and extras alone are also not enough to suffice either.. they do not adequately fill the rest of your day besides dolphins. If you are going to go there without doing a dolphin swim you wasted your money. (its 250 dollars with dolphins, 150 or so without).

My final word would be it is worth it but do not have high expectations and if you are going just to swim with dolphins you may find it a bit pricy or a bit stingy on the time you get to spend with the dolphins. If you go there expecting to have a very relaxing day, a unique experience with dolphins, enjoy some sun and surf, free food, a park with a small crowd, and employees to cater to you; i think it will be worth it. Yes, i honestly see this place as more of a relaxation spa-like place to go, rather than the image it gives itself as a pool filled with dolphins you can swim in all day.

One warning: This place will try to suck out more money out of you very easily. EVERYTHING is included with the 200 dollar ticket you should need (food, sunscreen, locker, gear rentals).. but for cameras and hats and apparel it is outrageously expensive. Pictures too are also outrageously expensive and they force you to buy them from the park if you want good pictures (water cameras are not allowed in the dolphin pool).
The first time i went we bought 20 pictures of us on a photo CD. The "rights" to these pictures cost 100-200 dollars or so. It was outrageous honestly.

You do get 1 free picture per party though.

I did this about 6 years ago when they had only been going about a year. You do get to swim with the dolphins but there is not much time for each person to interact directly with them. The rest of the park could be fun but feels very crowded despite the limited numbers. The reef for coral and fish gets ridiculously crowded. It is an expensive day out. If it is a special occasion then maybe a good excuse. You do also get a 7 day pass for Sea World which is worth a visit. Would I do it again? No. Am I glad i did it? I think so......

we did discovery cove back in august 2002 there were 6 of us it is quite expensive but if its something you really want to do its wort doing . yes you can swim with the dolphins but you dont get long they put you in groups we had someone join us that we never knew which is a bit difficult for the photos the water is very deep and cold i dont think you really class it has swimming with them cos all you do is touch them and they do tricks for you then they pull you back to shallow water but it was fun least we can say weve done it snorkling through the pools to see the tropical fish was good we also got a lovley meal it is better value now you get all your meals and snacks included i dont think i would spend all that money again seeing ive already done it the water is also very cold

No it's not worth the money, but it is an amazing experience, the Florida Keys is better value, it depend on how badly you want to swim with these wonderful creatures, it's supposed to be a once in a lifetime thing but i'm hooked and will swim with them whenever i can, anywhere

It is a lovely place to interact with birds, the dolphins and other animals. It is pricy and you don't really get to swim with the dolphins they have a lot of regulations, but it is a lovely experience.
