I have a few items I'd like to sell, but I've been putting it off for months, thinking it's probably difficult to get the whole thing set up and feeling like the actual selling process is complicated too. Am I right?

If you just have some of your own stuff to sell, it's a piece of cake! The submission process guides you through it Just got to ebay and go to "sell", it'll all be explained in detail, easy!

If you want to sell commercially, you want to create a really nice looking page, that looks like a store on the internet. That will take mroe work, and learning html, but you don't need that at all to sell stuff!

If you do want to make more than just a basic page (basic you can do without any knowledge of anything, Ebay will guide you through), but you don't want to learn html, check out http://www.auctiva.com/ They have nice page 'templates' for free, so all you do is pick one, and write your information in it!

Good luck, you can do it!!

Depends on your level of sophistication.
To do a really good job you need to be able to set up the auction page with HTML code. That can be done using Netscape composer.
I have found that by using first class pictures of the item(s) and describing them in detail, including all the nicks, cuts or whatever (very important!), I have been able to get better prices for used items of mine(well taken care of!), than others got for the same item brand new!
But it takes, taking the first step.
My first item was a 1 year old DVD player I had just replaced with a 300 DVD disc changer...

The selling process is easy, ebay makes it pretty easy. The most difficult thing (actually not difficult but time consuming) is taking good looking photos to your stuff. Then shipping, but you can go to your nearest UPS and they will help you. Do as I did, learn from your competition. Look for what you are selling and pay attention to the presentation, words that sell and use them for your inspiration.

Actually, I believe it to be somewhat easier for a newcomer. Someone new to ebay likely still has decent stuff to sell. I did well at first selling items then as I ran out of stuff people wanted, my sales fell.
