Depends on what part of the medical field. Surgeons need to know exactly how far to make an incesion and what angels they need to make a cut for and stuff like that. Also, nurses need to know for medication purposes. They need to know exactly how many "ccs" of this or that you need and how many mgs of something else. Theres a lot more involved but these are some things I learned from a friend who is going to school for being a nurse.

When u r in the medical field you can use math to figure out the dosage of a medicine the patient need based on their physical status and to be able to operate effeciently.

When giving medications you often need to calculate how much to give according to a person's weight. Also have to do math when working with anything given by IV.

Math is used to determine dosage of drugs, your risk of various diseases, etc.
A sad use of math in medicine involves determining the amount of damaged skin that a burn victim has. Too large a percentage of the total area of the skin usually signifies a low or zero probability of survival.

There are a lot of things. Some of them are figuring out drug dosages, IV flow rates, finding arrhythmias in ECGs, modeling epidemics, statistical analysis in researching cures for disease, and my favorite, medical imaging (because it's related to my area of research).
Some links follow. Cheers!
