i need divx player, but dont want to pay the 15 dollars to keep it after the 15 day trail period. I was wondering if anyone knows of a free way to get it or a free player that does the same as divix??

You can also use the Xvid (DivX spelled backwards) to decode DivX media.
The difference between the two: DivX is now closed source and Xvid is the open source competitor. It's not fully compatible becaus e the DivX codec is somewhat stagnant whereas Xvid ist still being actively developed. Using advanced encoding features of Xvid can break compatibility.

Due to legal issues you don't get a compiled binary from the Xvid project website. But of course, there is a precompiled inoffical codec pack, that also provides a player:

The divx player at divx.com is free. It's just the version that lets you make movies that costs money. When the 15 days is up, the player will still work.

this is one of the best players I have. this plays almost any format and best thing is this is a open source software.
