My oil pressure guage immediately registers maximum pressure as soon as I accelerate the least bit.

What does the pressure run idling? Around 40 or so lbs? It is probably a bad oil pressure senson OR could be a bad guage. I would replace, or check out the oil pressure sensor, first.

Next the "constant pressure" relief valve could be stuck closed and not opening to hold the pressure to stay at specified pressure. Good luck. Pops

turn it OFF and bypass away it off before you blow up the engine. Have it towed to the mechanic and caught. sounds like your oil pump is failing or has failed, or there's a issue with oil circulating interior the engine. lower back, tow it in, do no longer force it except you're into changing engines.
