It will get smaller and smaller as the baby grows, but it usually takes until around age 2 to close completely.

the sutures in the skull do not completely fuse until age 30! that is one of the ways forensics can determine age. but the soft spot is closed over by 2.

The "soft spot" isn't a wound. It is a natural occurance in infants, just as their sinuses and ear canals are different until they reach school age, just as they aren't born knowing how to use the toilet. It closes differently in each child, is hardly noticible when it does.

its not a matter of healing theres nothing to heal the spot does gain strength in about 8 months to1/12 years.after birth.

I think up to a year. But its not really healing, it is just growing and closing. You don't want it to close before it should.

The back one closes pretty soon after birth, and the one on top of the head takes about one to two years to close up.

Around 2, my son will be 2 in Feb. and it is almost completely gone. His little friend had to have surgery because his closed up too fast and they had to go in and make them bigger, he was like 6 months old.
