What Did The Iroquois Eat

2016-10-02 04:29:26 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

The Iroquois were hunters and gatherers. They killed all sorts of wild animals and birds but also gathered nuts (acorns that were roasted), walnuts and hazelnuts. They used cattails (young and tender) wild grapes, lambs quarters (a type of plant) dandelion, wild rice (in some areas) and all the native berries and fruits. However most of the food was various animals, fish, turtles, chipmunks, groundhogs, beaver (the tail was a delicacy), porcupines. Deer were a special treat.
