Have you looked into the movies from India? Many are wonderful. The subtitles are clear.
The romantic-comedies are excellent.
All of Rani Mukerji or Preity Zinta movies are a good start.
China has given 5 or 6 excellent movies, also.
I am careful about nudity also, and story must be solid.
There are excellent anime movies also, from Japan.

"Babette's Feast" is a great movie-- it start's out slowly, but turns into a funny film. "Kundun" is a real good flick about the Dalai Lama. Then there are "La Strada" and "Zorba the Greek" with Anthony Quinn.
