I'm 19 years old and I've come to a point where I stopped listening to this fake/thug/garbage music. The same could be said about reggaeton too, but just as everything there is a good and bad. Hip hop has it's flaws and ups. The same could be said about reggaeton. I'm not against today's sexual songs because we are all sexual and sometiimes we need that kind of stuff (don't front!). I'm against violent music. It's a real shame that artists promote violence. Look at Daddy Yankee and his song with Snoop Dogg. Oh yeah he raps about how you have to be tough in the streets, with images of a person with a gas mask (I mean WTF, this ain't no chemical/gas war!). Yet at the end of the video you see a young girl with carboards saying to give back to the community. Don't be using innocent children in your pathetic videos. I used to listen to gangsta rap, but I really thought hard about it and said to myself, why am I so angry? Instead of me making trouble why don't I contribute to

All I can say is welcome to adulthood. Once you realize that these singers and rap artists do not care about you and they only care for the money, the better you are. If a song doesn't make me feel joy in some way, then I don't need to hear it. There are too many negatives out there and music doesn't need to be one of them. Good music, good beat. I'm good to go.

I'm enjoying todays music more than I have in a while, not gangsta rap or anything like that. But I love some of the newer artists like Nora Jones, Five For Fighting, Kelly Clarkson, John Mayer, Nelly Furtado, Jewel. For awhile there I only listened to 70's and 80's music.

Todays music in each genre (country, rap,pop and rock) is disposable and most of it sounds the same. I don't need Clear Channel communitcations and MTV telling me what sounds good. The older to me is more influential and timeless than the modern tunes. I prefer NWA over GUnit, Johnny Cash over Tim McGraw, Marvin Gaye over Maroon 5, Jimi Hendrix over Nickelback. Modern mainstream hip hop is god-awful. The beats are the same, the lyrics are the same. I get sick and tired of rappers glorifying the things they own. I can care less if you own 8 Hummers. Make a beat that sounds original and moving. Not everything endorsed by 50 Cent or whoever is good material.
